Man charged with DWI, cocaine possession following traffic stop in Sussex County

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – An Essex County man is facing several charges including driving while intoxicated and possession of cocaine following a traffic stop last month in Byram Township.

On July 19, at 12:22 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane on Lackawanna Drive. The officer then stopped the vehicle and while speaking to the driver, who was identified as Vincent Radice, 27, of Roseland Borough, the officer felt he may be intoxicated, police said.

Radice performed several standardized field sobriety tests, which he allegedly failed and was arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicating liquor or drug, police said.

During a search of the passenger compartment of the vehicle, officers located a bag of suspected cocaine, police said.

Radice was transported to the Byram Township Police Station where he consented to and failed two breath tests, police said.

Radice was charged with third-degree possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, under the influence of CDS, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, CDS in a motor vehicle, failure to maintain lane, failure to keep right, noisy muffler, failure to inspect, and improper display. He was then released to a friend pending a court appearance, police said.
