Man dies from injuries sustained during tree-chipping equipment accident in Hunterdon County

FLEMINGTON BOROUGH, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A man died from injuries sustained during a tree-chipping equipment accident in Flemington Borough on Wednesday, according to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée Robeson.

On July 10, at around 6:20 p.m., a 9-1-1 call was received and officers responded to Saint Magdalen Cemetery, Robeson said.

Officers arrived on scene and found a deceased male, who was later identified as Eonias Mateo-Perez, 22, of Flemington. He had died from fatal injuries received while operating tree-chipping equipment, Robeson said.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the death was accidental, Robeson said.

Members of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA) responded to the scene, and their investigation is pending, Robeson said.
