Man killed in head-on crash with dump truck on Route 206 in Sussex County

SANDYSTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — A Madison Borough man died Wednesday after his car crossed the center line on Route 206 in Sussex County and collided head-on with a dump truck, state police said.

According to New Jersey State Police spokesman Trooper II Christopher Postorino, troopers responded to the crash at about milepost 121.7 on Route 206 north in Sandyston Township.

A preliminary investigation found that a Nissan passenger car was traveling south on Route 206 when it crossed the double yellow line into the northbound lane and struck a Kenworth dump truck.

The driver of the Nissan, Richard Dudley, 70, of Madison Borough, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries, Postorino said. The dump truck driver suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was available.
