More than 1,800 JCP&L customers lose power late Wednesday in parts of Warren County; service restored within an hour

WARREN COUNTY, N.J. — More than 1,800 Jersey Central Power & Light customers lost electricity late Wednesday night after a transmission line issue caused outages across portions of Hackettstown, Allamuchy Township and Independence Township.

The outage occurred shortly before midnight, affecting homes and businesses in several sections of the three municipalities.

“We had a transmission line (the high-voltage lines that feed substations) trip. All customers were restored within about an hour,” FirstEnergy spokesman Christopher Hoenig said.

The utility did not immediately release additional details about what triggered the line to trip.
