Morris County Correctional Facility earns 100% compliance rating in state inspection
MORRIS TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — The Morris County Correctional Facility received a 100% compliance rating during its annual inspection by the New Jersey Department of Corrections, according to Sheriff James M. Gannon.
The inspection, completed in late April, evaluated both the facility’s operational policies and the condition of its physical plant to ensure compliance with state correctional standards.
According to the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, auditors found the facility met all New Jersey Department of Corrections requirements and praised staff professionalism, facility management and overall operations.
The audit team also highlighted the strong sense of unity among correctional officers, civilian employees and medical personnel.
Officials said auditors described the atmosphere within the facility as feeling like a family and commended employees for their professionalism, courtesy and knowledge during the review process.
The auditors also praised the cleanliness of the correctional facility and noted that the Morris County Correctional Facility is frequently referenced as a model for correctional operations across New Jersey.
“Achieving 100% compliance is a direct reflection of the dedication, pride, and teamwork displayed by everyone who works here. I thank all our Bureau of Corrections staff for their continued commitment to excellence and for contributing to an environment that others recognize as exceptional. Congratulations on another outstanding accomplishment,” Sheriff Gannon said.
The Morris County Correctional Facility is one component of what the Sheriff’s Office describes as its “triple crown” accreditation distinction, which includes accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, the American Correctional Association and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care.
The Morris County Sheriff’s Office has also earned Highlands Forensics Certification for crime scene processing and evidence management.
