Motorcyclist dies in fiery crash on I-80 in Morris County, state police say

UPDATE: Motorcyclist killed in I-80 crash in Morris County identified as 20-year-old South Plainfield man

PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, N.J. (Morris County) — A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon in a fiery crash on Interstate 80 westbound in Parsippany-Troy Hills, according to New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded at approximately 1:10 p.m. to milepost 41.6, where a Dodge pickup truck towing a Chevrolet Suburban was traveling west when the rear of the Suburban was struck by a Yamaha motorcycle, State Police spokesperson Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said.

Following the impact, all three vehicles caught fire, and the flames spread to a wooded area along the roadside.

The driver of the motorcycle sustained fatal injuries, according to police. Identification of the victim is pending.

The crash remains under investigation, and no further details were immediately released.
