Motorcyclist killed in crash on County Route 521 in Sussex County, state police say

MONTAGUE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — A Morris Plains man was killed Monday afternoon when his motorcycle left the roadway and struck a tree in Sussex County, according to New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded at about 1:32 p.m. to County Route 521 at milepost 38.2 in Montague Township.

A preliminary investigation found that the rider, identified as 36-year-old Efrain AlvaradoMaradiaga, was traveling south on a Kawasaki motorcycle when the vehicle veered off the left side of the road, hit a tree and overturned, police said.

AlvaradoMaradiaga sustained fatal injuries in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation, and no additional information was immediately available, authorities said.
