MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A 20-year-old Budd Lake man was charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing his car into the front yard of a Mount Olive residence early Aug. 28, police said.
The crash occurred about 2:53 a.m. on Flanders Netcong Road, where police found a black Subaru that had run off the roadway, struck two trees and came to rest in a flower bed near a house.
The driver, identified as Ryan Kennedy, was the only occupant of the vehicle and was not injured, police said.
During the investigation, police said Kennedy showed signs of impairment and was asked to perform field sobriety tests before being arrested. He was taken to police headquarters, where he was charged with DWI, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to stop or yield, careless driving, improper display of plates, violating the restrictions of a special learner’s permit and failing to display required decals.
Kennedy was released to a sober driver pending a court hearing.
