Mountain Creek to celebrate 60th anniversary with retro-themed festival Jan. 24-25
VERNON TONWSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — Mountain Creek Resort, located in Vernon Township, will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a two-day festival this weekend featuring retro-themed lift ticket discounts, a terrain park competition and live entertainment at its South Base and Vernon Base, the resort announced.
The 60th Anniversary Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 24, and Sunday, Jan. 25. The resort said it will offer a limited quantity of $60 lift tickets available on-site for guests who arrive dressed in retro gear. Guests also will be encouraged to submit old photos or videos for display during the festival and to enter iconic equipment, gear or merchandise for a historical display, spanning the resort’s earlier eras as Vernon Valley and Great Gorge, the announcement said.
“We’ve got some incredible momentum right now, with one of the best season starts on record here in Vernon,” said Evan Kovach, General Manager. “We want to build on this energy and keep the vibe going, and what better way to do that than by throwing a big party – that’s exactly what this 60th Anniversary Festival is. We’re excited to see what retro-style outfits guests show up in to take advantage of the $60 lift tickets and know there’s plenty of skiers and snowboarders that are going to put on quite the show at the Legacy Rail Jam terrain park competition. It’s two full days of fun and entertainment, to celebrate our 60th.”
The festival will include the Legacy Rail Jam terrain park competition on Saturday, Jan. 24, the resort said. It will feature multiple events with prizes for Best Trick, presented by Bubbakoo’s Burritos, and Best Overall performance, presented by Pepsi, according to the announcement. Registration is required and begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at the terrain park, the resort said.
Live DJs and music are planned at both base areas, the resort said, with additional festivities at KINK at the South Lodge. Food and drink specials are set to begin at 3 p.m., followed by an after-party starting at 7 p.m. for guests 21 and older, the resort said.
Mountain Creek said it offers more than 167 acres of winter trails across four peaks, served by nine lifts and three terrain parks.
The resort also said it is recruiting team members for the 2025-26 winter season and directed job seekers to its employment website for openings and details.
