Multiple St. Luke’s University Health Network campuses ranked among 100 top hospitals in U.S.
St. Luke’s University Health Network has been named to Premier’s 2024 PINC AI 100 Top Hospitals list, as published by Fortune magazine.
This marks the 11th consecutive year and the 13th time overall that St. Luke’s hospitals have been recognized among the 100 Top Hospitals in the United States. St. Luke’s is the only health network in the greater Lehigh Valley region to ever earn this distinction.
“St. Luke’s has earned the 100 Top Hospitals designation for 11 years in a row and 13 years overall—a remarkable achievement that speaks to the fact that our network is among the very best nationwide,” said St. Luke’s Chief Quality Officer Donna Sabol. “Such consistently outstanding results are a credit to our physicians, nurses, and our entire St. Luke’s team and their unwavering focus on quality at every level of our organization.”
The 100 Top Hospitals ranking, conducted annually since 1993, is the most prestigious honor for hospitals in the United States. It is based entirely on objective data, as top performers are not subjected to the exorbitant, pay-for-play promotional fees associated with recognitions from other organizations.
PINC AI, the technology and services platform of healthcare consultancy Premier, Inc., has identified the top hospitals through a rigorous evaluation of nearly 2,600 acute care, non-federal hospitals in the U.S. The evaluation recognizes excellence in patient outcomes and quality as well as operational efficiency, financial health, and community impact.
In Pennsylvania, only five hospitals earned a place on the 100 Top Hospitals list, and three of those are St. Luke’s campuses:
- St. Luke’s Anderson Campus was recognized for the seventh time among the 20 Best Teaching Hospitals.
- St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus was named for the first time in the Small Community Hospital category.
- St. Luke’s Warren Campus was named to the list for the first time in the Small Community Hospital category. The only other New Jersey hospital to make the list was in the Large Community Hospitals category.
“This year’s 100 Top Hospitals list recognizes institutions that consistently score high on patient experience, operational efficiencies, and financial health,” Fortune magazine stated. “The hospitals that topped the list excelled in all key measures—particularly when it comes to mortality rates.”
“If this year’s top 100 hospitals were serving all Medicare patients, the data found that over 331,000 additional lives would be saved in a hospital setting, over 611,000 patients would be complication-free, and 13,000 fewer patients would be discharged and readmitted within 30 days. This would account for $15.1 billion in saved healthcare costs.”
