Murphy lifts emergency order for five North Jersey counties after winter storm

TRENTON, N.J. — Gov. Phil Murphy on Tuesday lifted the State of Emergency that had been in effect since Dec. 1 for five North Jersey counties in anticipation of a winter storm that brought heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain to the region.

Murphy had issued Executive Order No. 406 declaring a State of Emergency in Hunterdon, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and Warren counties, allowing the state to mobilize resources and respond quickly to potentially hazardous conditions.

With improving weather and cleanup efforts complete, Murphy signed Executive Order No. 407, terminating the emergency declaration effective 12 p.m. on Dec. 9.

The initial declaration enabled state agencies to coordinate storm response, deploy equipment and personnel, and assist local governments as needed.
