New Hope–Lambertville Bridge to close to N.J.-bound traffic on weekdays for two weeks

NEW HOPE, Pa. — Commuters traveling from Pennsylvania to New Jersey via the New Hope–Lambertville Toll-Supported Bridge should prepare for daytime closures beginning Monday, Sept. 15, officials said.

The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced the bridge will be closed to New Jersey-bound traffic on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for up to two weeks, with the detour expected to end Sept. 26. The closure will allow contractors to install a temporary under-bridge platform for inspection and possible repair of the bridge’s electrical supply components.

Access from the Pennsylvania side will be barricaded at Main Street (Route 32) and East Bridge Street (Route 179) in downtown New Hope. Signage will direct drivers north on Route 32 to the nearby New Hope–Lambertville Toll Bridge on Route 202.

The bridge will remain open at all times to Pennsylvania-bound traffic and to pedestrians. Two-way vehicle traffic will also be permitted during nights and weekends. During detours, Pennsylvania-bound traffic will be shifted to the downstream lane to create a work zone.

The commission urged affected commuters to plan ahead and allow additional travel time during the temporary detour.
