New Jersey American Water lifts boil water advisory for most customers in 4 Warren County communities
WARREN COUNTY, N.J. — A boil water advisory that had been in effect since Sunday night for New Jersey American Water customers in four Warren County communities has been lifted for most customers, the utility announced.
The advisory was lifted for customers in Franklin Township, Mansfield Township, Washington Borough and Washington Township after repairs to a broken water main were completed and subsequent water quality testing showed the water is safe, according to New Jersey American Water.
The advisory remains in effect for 36 customers within the repair area of North Lincoln Avenue and West Church Street in Washington Borough. Those customers are being notified separately, the utility said.
Customers in the four communities had been under the precautionary boil water advisory since Sunday night, Sept. 27, following a water main break.
New Jersey American Water said customers no longer under the advisory do not need to boil tap water before using it.
The utility recommends customers run cold-water faucets for three to five minutes to flush service connections and interior plumbing. Customers should also empty and clean automatic ice makers and water chillers.
Hot water heaters should be drained and refilled if the temperature is set below 113 degrees. Water softeners and cartridge filters should be run through a regeneration cycle or other procedure recommended by the manufacturer, and water reservoirs in tall buildings should be drained and refilled when applicable.
New Jersey American Water said customers will receive an alert through the company’s emergency notification system about the advisory being lifted.
