New Jersey residents urged to apply for property tax relief before Nov. 2 deadline
NEW JERSEY — The New Jersey Department of the Treasury is reminding eligible homeowners and renters to apply for the state’s property tax relief programs before the Monday, Nov. 2, deadline.
The Treasury’s Division of Taxation is encouraging residents to take advantage of the ANCHOR, Senior Freeze and Stay NJ programs, which provide property tax relief to eligible New Jersey residents.
Seniors age 65 and older, along with eligible homeowners and mobile homeowners with disabilities, can apply for all three programs using a single PAS-1 application. The consolidated form replaces the previous separate applications for ANCHOR and Senior Freeze and also includes Stay NJ, the state’s newest property tax relief program.
“The PAS-1 application allows seniors and disabled residents to apply for all of New Jersey’s property tax relief programs at one time and makes the process as seamless as possible,” said State Treasurer Aaron Binder. “We want to ensure that all eligible residents take advantage of these programs designed to make New Jersey a more affordable place to live.”
Residents younger than 65 who own or rent property in New Jersey may also qualify for property tax relief through the ANCHOR program. Those applicants must use the ANC-1 application.
Both applications are available online at propertytaxreliefapp.nj.gov, and the filing deadline for each is Nov. 2, 2026.
The Division of Taxation is also offering several resources to assist residents who have questions or need help completing their applications.
Residents can attend in-person filing events where Division of Taxation representatives will help submit property tax relief applications. A schedule of upcoming events is available on the state’s ANCHOR Public Events webpage.
Assistance is also available at the Division of Taxation’s regional information centers, where residents can receive in-person help. Office locations can be found at nj.gov/treasury/taxation/contact.shtml.
Those who prefer telephone assistance can schedule an appointment with a representative through the state’s TeleGov appointment system.
Additional information about eligibility requirements, application procedures and benefit status is available at propertytaxrelief.nj.gov.
Residents can also contact the state’s Property Tax Relief Hotline at 1-888-238-1233 for assistance.
State officials are encouraging eligible residents to submit their applications before the Nov. 2 deadline to ensure they are considered for available property tax relief benefits.
