Pair arrested on drug charges after reportedly ‘nodding off’ in Morris County parking lot

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Two people were arrested on drug charges Sunday after they were reportedly “nodding off” in parking lot in a Denville Township parking lot, according to police.

On Sept. 1, police responded the parking lot of the ACME, located at 125 East Main Street, for a 9-1-1 call reporting a vehicle with the engine running, door open, and two occupants “nodding off,” police said.

During the course of the investigation, the occupants were identified as William R. Churchwell, 42, of Newton and Jessica R. Russo, 36, of East Stroudsburg, PA, police said.

Police found at the scene multiple containers with methamphetamine, multiple bundles of heroin, a glass pipe, and drug paraphernalia, authrotreis said.

Churchwell and Russo also had outstanding warrants for their arrest, police said.

Both were charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Churchwell was additionally charged with operation of motor vehicle while in possession of illegal narcotics, police said.

Churchwell and Russo were lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending court appearances, police said.
