CHESTER BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) A woman was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk Saturday afternoon in Chester Borough, according to Chester Police Lieutenant Brian Gill.

The crash happened on Nov. 9, at around 4:05 p.m., on County Route 513 (also known as Main Street) and Crystal Lake Drive, Gill said.

According to Gill, 31-year-old James Sommer of Lebanon was driving a 2014 Toyota Camry southbound on County Route 513 when his vehicle struck an adult female pedestrian who was walking her dog in a marked crosswalk at the intersection with Crystal Lake Drive.

The woman, whose identity was not released, suffered serious bodily injury and was airlifted to Morristown Medical Center, Gill said.

Sommer told police that sun glare may have contributed to the crash, Gill added.
