Pedestrian struck, killed by vehicle in Morris County

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday evening near the entrance to Turkey Brook Park in Mount Olive Township.

The incident occurred around 4:06 p.m. on Flanders Road. According to police, a 66-year-old woman was in the crosswalk walking toward the park when she was hit by a red Kia traveling south on Flanders Road.

She suffered significant injuries and was treated at the scene by Atlantic EMS and Saint Clare’s Health Paramedics before being transported to Morristown Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries, police said.

The driver of the Kia remained at the scene, police said.

Flanders Road was closed between Elias Drive and Sunset Drive for approximately three hours while authorities conducted an on-scene investigation.

The crash is being investigated by the Mount Olive Police Department’s Traffic and Detective Bureaus, with assistance from the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigative Section. Charges are pending, police said.
