Police: Man charged after fleeing traffic stop in Morris County

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Willingboro man was charged after allegedly fleeing from police during a traffic stop at a Mount Olive Township retail location, authorities said.

According to police, the incident occurred at about 3:42 p.m. Dec. 12, 2025, when an officer on routine patrol observed a gray Nissan being driven carelessly through a parking area. Police said a motor vehicle stop was initiated in the parking lot of Lowe’s, 20 International Drive South, in the Flanders section of the township.

As an officer approached the vehicle, the driver allegedly exited the Nissan and ran from the scene on foot, police said. After a brief pursuit, the driver was taken into custody.

The driver was identified as Edison A. Portillogarcia, 29, of Willingboro. He was transported to police headquarters and charged with obstruction and eluding police, authorities said.
