Police searching for 2 people accused of abandoning cats at construction company in Sussex County

HOPATCONG BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – The Hopatcong Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying these two individuals seen abandoning four cats at a construction company in Hopatcong Borough.

The incident happened on Stanhope Sparta Road on Thursday, August 15 at around 5:20 a.m., police said.

The two people abandoned four hairless cats in cardboard carriers at Lakeside Construction that needed medical attention.

They were seen driving a newer white Toyota Tundra, police said.

Similar incidents involving the same individuals, carriers, and breed of cats had occurred at a Morris County Animal Shelter and a Sussex County Animal Shelter within the past week, police said.
