Project Self-Sufficiency to offer parenting classes for fathers
NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — Project Self-Sufficiency will offer a series of parenting workshops for fathers beginning Tuesday, Nov. 3, with both in-person and virtual participation options available.
The 24:7 Dad program, developed by the National Fatherhood Initiative, is designed for expectant fathers and those who already have children. The curriculum focuses on 12 habits of confident and effective fathers, with an emphasis on strengthening parenting skills and family relationships.
The program will consist of 12 consecutive sessions held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m. Participants can attend in person at Project Self-Sufficiency in Newton or virtually through Zoom.
Topics will include fatherhood, men’s health, managing emotions, discipline, communication and co-parenting. The workshops will also explore relationships with partners and children and ways to address challenges associated with parenting.
“The 24:7 Dads’ course has transformed families across the country, and we are very excited to offer it to fathers in our community,” explained Project Self-Sufficiency Chief Executive Officer Deborah Berry-Toon. “The curriculum invites participants to tap into their strengths, examine their relationships with partners and children, and address topics like anger, competition, communication, and fun.”
Pizza and childcare will be available for participants attending the sessions in person.
Fathers interested in participating can register by calling Project Self-Sufficiency at 973-940-3500 or visiting www.projectselfsufficiency.org/parenting-classes.
