Readington to host free tree sapling giveaway April 11

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Readington Township will host its annual tree sapling giveaway later this month, offering residents an opportunity to plant new trees and promote environmental sustainability.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to noon at Pickell Park, located at 275 Mountain Road in Whitehouse Station.

Organizers said several species of saplings will be available, with distribution limited to one large sapling per household while supplies last. The giveaway will operate on a first-come, first-served basis and will be held rain or shine.

The event is hosted by the township’s Open Space Advisory Board and Environmental Commission.

Officials said the program is intended to help residents replace trees lost in recent storms and encourage the planting of trees to enhance local landscapes and provide shade.

Planting instructions will be available on site.
