Report of shooting in Morris County town unfounded, police say

MONTVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A reported shooting in Morris County on Friday night was determined to be unfounded, according to police.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 9:10 p.m. April 2 to a residence on Majorca Road in the Towaco section of Montville Township after receiving a report of a shooting, Police Chief Andrew Caggiano said.

Police secured the area and investigated the report with assistance from the Morris County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities later determined that no shooting had occurred.

The investigation remains active, but officials said there is no threat to the public.
