Roadwork to begin on Berkshire Valley Road in Jefferson Township later this month
JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Milling and paving on Berkshire Valley Road (County Road 699) in Jefferson Township is scheduled to begin the week of Sept. 22 or Sept. 29, following the completion of drainage work now underway, county officials announced.
Work hours will run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, along the project limits stretching from Manor Drive north to the bridge connecting Jefferson Township and West Milford.
Drainage and inlet reconstruction began this week and is expected to continue for about three weeks, with daily traffic control provided by the Jefferson Township Police Department.
Once drainage work is finished, paving crews will mill and pave shoulders and intersections before moving to the mainline lanes. Four to five police officers will provide traffic control during this phase.
Officials said no full road closures are planned, but motorists should expect alternating lane closures, traffic shifts and delays. Construction signage has been installed at approaches to the work zone, and the Jefferson Township Police Department will issue a RAVE notification to residents.
The improvements are designed to extend pavement life and improve travel conditions.
J.A. Alexander, Inc., of Bloomfield, is the contractor for the project.
