Route 15 closed in both directions for emergency drainage repairs in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — Route 15 is closed and detoured in both directions in Lafayette Township for emergency drainage repairs, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

The highway was closed at approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, between Mudcut Road and Morris Farm Road/Meadows Road.

NJDOT said the closure is necessary for emergency drainage repairs south of the Route 15 bridge over the Paulins Kill. Crews are on site evaluating the situation and beginning repairs.

The following detours are in place until further notice:

  • Route 15 northbound: Motorists will be directed to turn left onto Route 94, then right onto Route 206 to return to Route 15.
  • Route 15 southbound: Motorists will be directed to turn right onto Mudcut Road, which becomes Valleyview Road, then left onto Route 94 to return to Route 15.

Trucks traveling southbound on Route 15 are advised to use Route 206 southbound to Route 94.

NJDOT did not provide an estimated time for the highway to reopen.

The timing of the work is subject to change because of weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check 511nj.org for real-time travel information.
