Route 202 south lane closure begins Friday near New Hope-Lambertville bridge for toll project

DELAWARE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A single lane on Route 202 southbound is scheduled to close Friday morning, June 27, near the New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202) Toll Bridge as a Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) improvement project begins in Hunterdon County and Solebury, Pennsylvania.

The lane closure will occur between Route 29 in New Jersey and Route 32 in Pennsylvania. Wide loads will be prohibited on Route 202 southbound (heading into Pennsylvania) for the duration of construction.

This follows the June 24 closure of a single lane on Route 202 northbound approaching the bridge from Pennsylvania. At least one lane in each direction and all ramps will remain open during the project.

Motorists approaching the bridge are advised to reduce speed, anticipate lane shifts and use caution. The lane closures are expected to remain in place into 2026.

The work is part of a DRJTBC initiative to convert the former toll plaza into an all-electronic tolling (AET) facility. The highway-speed AET system is scheduled to be operational by summer 2026. Additional unrelated bridge repairs will continue through the end of 2026.

Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen factors. Drivers are encouraged to visit www.511nj.org for real-time travel updates.
