Screeching tires leads to DWI arrest in Morris County

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Screeching his car tires in a supermarket parking lot led to the arrest of an Essex County man on charges including drunken driving in Denville Township, police said.

On June 4, an officer was patrolling the area of the Acme Supermarket parking lot when the officer allegedly observed a vehicle screeching its tires in place while in a parking stall, police said.

The officer approached the vehicle and an investigation was conducted. As a result, the driver of the vehicle, who was later identified as Steven Duarte, 41, of Cedar Grove, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, police said.

Duarte was issued two additional summonses for careless driving and reckless driving. He was then released pending a court appearance, police said.
