ShopRite offers free nutrition starter kits for customers beginning GLP-1 weight-loss medications
NEW JERSEY — ShopRite is introducing an updated version of its Wellness Your Way Starter Kit, offering free nutrition guidance, shopping tips and product samples to customers beginning GLP-1 medications for weight management.
The supermarket chain announced Wednesday, Oct. 28, that customers filling their first GLP-1 prescription at a ShopRite Pharmacy will receive a complimentary starter kit while supplies last. The initiative is designed to help customers adjust their eating habits and make informed food choices while taking the medications.
The updated kits follow the program’s initial launch earlier this year and include an expanded nutrition guide that takes shoppers aisle by aisle through the supermarket. The guide offers shopping recommendations, highlights products and provides practical suggestions for incorporating nutritious foods into daily routines.
“As customers adjust their eating habits while beginning a GLP-1 medication, we want to make navigating the supermarket feel more manageable,” said Aaron Sapp, Vice President of Pharmacy and Wellness for Wakefern Food Corp. “Our goal is to provide practical resources and support that help customers build new routines and make informed choices that work for their individual needs.”
GLP-1 medications are commonly prescribed to help manage Type 2 diabetes and, depending on the medication, support weight management. Because these medications can affect appetite and food intake, maintaining adequate nutrition is an important consideration for patients using them.
According to ShopRite, the Wellness Your Way nutrition guide was developed with guidance from the company’s registered dietitian and focuses on several nutritional priorities, including protein, fiber, hydration and nutrient-dense foods. The guide also includes recipes, product recommendations and brand information intended to help customers make food choices that fit their individual needs.
In addition to the nutrition guide, each starter kit includes samples from participating brand partners, giving customers an opportunity to explore different food and wellness products.
Participating brands include Ensure, TUMS, OLLY, G Hughes Zero Sugar, Mentos Gum, MiraLAX, Kraft, Bowl & Basket, Thomas’, GoGo squeeZ, Pure Protein and Eat Pecans from the American Pecan Promotion Board.
ShopRite said the initiative is intended to connect pharmacy services with everyday nutrition resources, allowing customers to receive additional support beyond filling a prescription. By offering the kits directly through its pharmacies, the supermarket chain aims to make nutritional information and shopping guidance more accessible to customers beginning weight-management treatment.
The Wellness Your Way Starter Kits will be available for a limited time at all ShopRite Pharmacy locations, while supplies last. Customers can visit their local ShopRite Pharmacy for additional information about eligibility and availability.
