Somerset County launches Special Needs Registry

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ – In partnership with the OPS Network, and as part of the National Special Needs Registry, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald and Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr. have announced the launch of the Special Needs Registry.

The Somerset County Special Needs Registry has been implemented to ensure that all residents who have special needs receive the help and support they need during the time of an emergency, or during an interaction with law enforcement.

The Special Needs Registry is a voluntary service open to all citizens and was created to help police officers better assist residents with special needs, in the event of an emergency or law enforcement interaction, by providing police with vital information such as details about each registrant’s disability, emergency contact information, a physical description, and a current photograph of the registrant.

For more information, and to register for the Somerset County Special Needs Registry visit www.somersetprosnj.gov/special-needs-registry. Once you have entered your information, it will be available to all participating law enforcement agencies.
