Somerset County man injured in boating accident in Manahawkin Bay

LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP, NJ (Ocean County) – A Somerset County man injured in boating accident in Manahawkin Bay Saturday, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Charles Marchan.

Troopers responded to a vessel accident at 4:36 p.m. in Manahawkin Bay in Long Beach Township, Marchan said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that Timothy Quinn, 59, of Neshanic Station was operating a personal watercraft eastbound and struck a 28 foot vessel traveling northbound on the vessel’s port side, Marchan said.

After the initial impact, Quinn was ejected and sucked underwater by the other vessel’s propulsion. The propellers of the vessel then struck Quinn, Marchan said.

Quinn was transported to an area hospital for further treatment, Marchan said.
