Somerset County names April ‘Fugitive of the Month,’ seeks man wanted on theft charges

SOMERVILLE, N.J. (Somerset County) — Authorities in Somerset County are asking for the public’s help locating a man named as the county’s “Fugitive of the Month” for April.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Fugitive Unit is seeking Joseph E. Martino Jr., 54, who is wanted for failure to appear in court on multiple theft-related charges, officials said.

According to authorities, Martino is charged with one count of second-degree identity theft, one count of third-degree theft and two counts of third-degree theft by deception. The charges stem from incidents that occurred between March and July 2021 in Raritan Borough.

Officials described Martino as approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing about 230 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He is reported to have multiple tattoos on his arms, shoulder, back and hand. His last known address was in Perth Amboy, Middlesex County.

Authorities urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Fugitive Unit at 908-231-7100 or submit an anonymous tip through the STOPit app. Tips can also be provided through the Somerset County Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-888-577-TIPS (8477).
