Splash of Sparkle event raises over $47,000 for Hunterdon Hospice

HUNTERDON COUNTY, N.J. — The Hunterdon Health Auxiliary announced that its annual Splash of Sparkle fundraising event raised more than $47,000 to support Hunterdon Hospice.

The event, held on Sunday, April 6, at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club, featured a brunch with mimosas, a tricky tray basket raffle, and a $1,000 Visa gift card drawing. Guests also enjoyed a performance by a mentalist and a moving testimonial from Jean Hewens, who shared her experience as a caregiver for her husband, Dr. Jeremy Hewens, a former Hunterdon family physician.

Dr. Hewens suffered a traumatic brain injury nine years ago and has been under the care of Hunterdon Health’s Hospice and Palliative Care teams for the past three years. In her remarks, Jean Hewens spoke about the critical role hospice services have played in supporting both her husband and their family through difficult times.

“The Auxiliary is deeply grateful to contribute to a program that delivers a level of compassionate care that goes far beyond what words can express,” organizers said in a statement following the event.

Funds raised through Splash of Sparkle will support ongoing hospice care and services provided to individuals and families throughout the Hunterdon County region.
