Stormwater infrastructure mapping begins Friday along Morris County roads in Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Morris County is set to begin stormwater infrastructure mapping Friday along county roadways in Mount Olive Township as part of a state-required environmental compliance effort.

County officials said the work will be conducted by Aqualis on behalf of Morris County to meet requirements under the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System, or MS4, Highway Agency Permit.

Field crews will locate and collect GPS data for county-owned stormwater infrastructure, including storm drains, catch basins and outfall pipes.

According to the county, the field team will consist of one company-marked vehicle and two personnel, with additional traffic control measures implemented as needed.

Data collection will occur between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. and is expected to take approximately three to five days to complete.

Officials said motorists should use caution when traveling near the crews because the team will operate slow-moving vehicles and may also work on foot along county roadways.

Residents seeking additional information can contact the Morris County Division of Engineering and Transportation at 973-285-6751.
