Suspect arrested after alleged threats to harm Fairleigh Dickinson University student with firearm

FLORHAM PARK BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – A suspect has been arrested after allegedly making threats to harm a Fairleigh Dickinson University student with a firearm, leading to a multi-agency response to ensure the safety of the campus.

On Wednesday, Nov. 20, just after 10:00 pm, the Florham Park Police Department responded to Fairleigh Dickinson University’s campus following reports of a suspect making threats to harm a student using a firearm, police said.

Due to the seriousness of the call, officers from multiple local agencies arrived to assist in securing the campus and conducting a search, police said.

Upon investigation, officers learned that the threat was made against an individual student, not the campus as a whole. It was also determined that the suspect was not on campus at the time of the alleged threat but was believed to have made the statement from a different location, police said.

An arrest warrant was issued for the suspect after their identity was confirmed, and the suspect was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as a wanted person. Early the next morning, on Nov. 21, the suspect contacted authorities and surrendered without incident, police said.

The suspect was arrested and charged with third-degree terroristic threats and was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing, police said.

Florham Park Police expressed gratitude for the swift and coordinated response from several neighboring law enforcement agencies, including the Morris Township Police Department, Madison Police Department, Chatham Township Police Department, Long Hill Township Police Department, Harding Township Police Department, and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Section. Their teamwork ensured the safety of the campus community during the investigation.
