Sussex County Library System launches first Winter Art-a-Thon

SUSSEX COUNTY, N.J. — The Sussex County Library System is inviting artists of all ages to take part in its first-ever Winter Art-a-Thon, a monthlong creative event running throughout February.

The program encourages participants to celebrate the winter season by creating original artwork inspired by the theme of winter. Beginning Feb. 2, participants may visit any Sussex County Library System branch to pick up an 8½-by-11-inch piece of cardstock to use for their artwork.

Completed submissions will be displayed at library branches, with the growing collection intended to create a community-wide winter-themed gallery.

Senior Library Assistant Amelia Maio, who developed the program, said the goal is to make creativity accessible to everyone.

“I hope this opportunity allows anyone to create something for themselves,” Maio said.

Artwork must be returned to any Sussex County Library System branch by the end of February. Each branch will display the submitted pieces for patrons to view and enjoy.

Participation is open to Sussex County Library System cardholders of all ages. Additional details about the Winter Art-a-Thon are available on the library’s website at sussexcountylibrary.libcal.com.

Information about upcoming library events, programs and branch locations can be found at sussexcountylibrary.org or by contacting a local library branch.
