
Sussex County man facing sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child charges
NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County man has been arrested following an investigation by Newton Police Department and the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray said Wednesday.
Xavier D. Izquierdo, 54, of Newton has been charged with one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child by causing or permitting a child to be portrayed in a sexually suggestive manner, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child by possession of child sexual exploitation or abuse material, and third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact.
Izquierdo has been incarcerated since the time of his arrest on Oct. 29 and will continue to be detained pending further order of the court, Murray said.
On Nov. 20, the State’s Motion for Pretrial Detention was granted after a hearing before the Honorable Robert M. Hanna, J.S.C. where the State was represented by Special Deputy General/Acting Assistant Prosecutor Sally Anne Monkemeier and Izquierdo was represented by Darryl K. Richardson, Esq. of The Law Offices of Jonathan F. Marshall.
First-degree aggravated sexual assault carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment in New Jersey State Prison.
