Sussex County to host free healthy living festival for seniors on Sept. 26

NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) – The Sussex County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Senior Services, in partnership with Newton Medical Center and United Methodist Communities at Bristol Glen, will host the 16th Annual Healthy Living Festival on Friday, Sept. 26.

The free event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at United Methodist Communities at Bristol Glen, located at 200 Bristol Glen Drive in Newton. It will feature complimentary health screenings and 15-minute educational presentations from various healthcare providers.

Among the health services offered are hearing screenings by Hearing Life, blood pressure checks, blood glucose testing, and more. Presentations will be repeated throughout the event to ensure broad access for attendees.

The Division of Senior Services says the festival is part of its mission to enhance the quality of life for seniors through education and access to evidence-based services. “This program offers seniors a free opportunity to get valuable health screenings and learn more about programs available to them in the community,” the division noted.

A continental breakfast and buffet lunch will be provided to participants who attend at least one-third of the available screenings and presentations.
