
Sussex County woman charged in stabbing at Hanover Township motel, police say
HANOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Newton woman has been charged after allegedly stabbing a man multiple times during an incident at the Red Carpet Inn on Oct. 15, according to Hanover Township police.
Officers responded to the motel for a report of a man who had been stabbed several times. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from six stab wounds. Police provided aid before the man was transported by emergency medical personnel to Morristown Medical Center.
Investigators said the suspect, identified as Wilmarie Vega Rodriguez, 30, was located nearby attempting to remain undetected. Although she did not have a weapon in her possession, officers later found a folding knife hidden in a bush, police said.
Vega Rodriguez was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and tampering with physical evidence.
She was lodged in the Morris County Jail pending a detention hearing.
