Swatting incident reported at Washington Garden Apartments, police say

WASHINGTON BOROUGH, N.J. (Warren County) — A report of a barricaded man at the Washington Garden Apartments in Washington Borough on Tuesday afternoon was determined to be a swatting incident, according to Washington Township police.

Police said officers were called to the complex around 3 p.m. for a report of a male subject barricaded inside an apartment. Patrol units arrived and attempted to make contact with the man using a vehicle’s loudspeaker.

The Warren County Tactical Response Team was activated and later entered the apartment, which was found to be unoccupied.

After an investigation, authorities confirmed the call to be a swatting incident — a false report made to trigger an emergency response.

“This was an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public,” police said in a statement.
