HOPE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — Three people were injured Thursday afternoon when an SUV left the roadway, struck a utility pole and a rock wall, and overturned in Hope Township, according to New Jersey State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash at 1:29 p.m. on County Road 519 north at milepost 44.5, State Police spokesman Trooper II Christopher Postorino said.
A preliminary investigation found that the driver of a Dodge SUV lost directional control of the vehicle, causing it to run off the right side of the roadway, strike a utility pole and a rock wall, and overturn.
A rear-seat passenger, identified as Chris S. Leininger, 62, of Menands, New York, sustained serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital, Postorino said.
The driver and front-seat passenger suffered minor injuries and also were transported to an area hospital.
The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was available.
