Tractor-trailer fire damages 8 vehicles on I-78 in Hunterdon County, state police say

TEWKSBURY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A tractor-trailer hauling multiple vehicles was destroyed in an early morning fire Friday on Interstate 78 in Hunterdon County, according to New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded at 2:51 a.m. to a motor vehicle fire on the eastbound side of I-78 at milepost 25.4 in Tewksbury Township, State Police spokesman Trooper II Christopher Postorino said.

When troopers arrived, a Peterbilt tractor-trailer carrying a car carrier trailer was fully engulfed in flames, authorities said. The fire affected the truck and eight vehicles being transported.

No injuries were reported at the scene, police said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no additional information was immediately available.
