Two arrested in connection with residential burglaries in Sussex County
SPARTA TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – The Sparta Township Police Department has arrested two individuals, accused of committing a series of residential burglaries on Morgan Drive and Skyview Drive.
Jerry Montgomery Jr., 44, of Hackensack, and Zachary Anderson, 33, of Englewood, were taken into custody on March 18, following an extensive investigation conducted by the Sparta Detective Bureau, police said.
Investigators determined that the Montgomery and Anderson forcibly entered homes by breaking through the front doors. Once inside, they stole safes containing valuable items and personal documents, along with high-end jewelry and other luxury goods, police said.
The burglaries were executed swiftly, with Montgomery and Anderson spending only minutes inside the residences before fleeing the area, police said.
Both Montgomery and Anderson have been charged with burglary, criminal mischief, theft of movable property, and conspiracy to commit burglary, police said.
This is not Montgomery’s first encounter with law enforcement in Sparta Township. In 2011 and 2013, he was arrested on burglary charges, among other offenses, police said.
Montgomery and Anderson remain in custody at the Morris County Correctional Facility as the investigation continues, police said.
