Two Jersey Mike’s employees charged with stealing customer’s wallet, cash in Mount Olive
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Two employees at the Jersey Mike’s in the Village Green Shopping Center on Route 46 in Budd Lake have been charged after police said they stole cash from a customer’s wallet that had been left behind at the restaurant.
According to police, the investigation began at approximately 5:45 p.m. July 4 when a man reported that cash had been taken from his wallet.
The victim told police he had accidentally left his wallet at the Jersey Mike’s in the Village Green Shopping Center on Route 46 on July 3. When he contacted the business, he was told the wallet was not there.
On July 4, the victim learned that his wallet had been recovered on the lawn of a residence in Washington Township by the Washington Township Police Department.
Police said the investigation determined that two Jersey Mike’s employees were responsible for the theft.
The suspects were identified as Isaiah J. Kali, 21, of Succasunna, and Brandon Grochulski, 21, of Hopatcong Borough.
Police arrested Grochulski at the restaurant and transported him to police headquarters, where he was charged with theft of movable property. Kali later responded to police headquarters, where he was arrested without incident and also charged with theft of movable property.
Both men were released pending court appearances.
