Uhlerstown-Frenchtown bridge to close weekdays for rehabilitation work
FRENCHTOWN BOROUGH, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Toll-Supported Bridge will be closed to all vehicle traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, through Friday, Nov. 21, as crews complete ongoing rehabilitation work, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced Wednesday.
Motorists are urged to use the Upper Black Eddy–Milford Toll-Supported Bridge, located about 3.3 miles upstream, as an alternate crossing during the daytime closures.
The Commission said the restrictions are necessary so contractors can finish remaining phases of the bridge’s rehabilitation before the winter holiday period. The span, which marked its 94th anniversary in October, has been undergoing extensive repairs since earlier this year.
Officials advised drivers to plan for detours and allow extra travel time, noting the schedule may change because of weather, emergencies or other unforeseen conditions. The pedestrian walkway will remain open throughout the closures, the Commission said.
More information about the Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Bridge Rehabilitation Project is available on the Commission’s website.
