Union County sheriff’s officer from Budd Lake indicted on official misconduct, vehicle title fraud charges
UNION COUNTY, N.J. — A Union County sheriff’s officer from Budd Lake has been indicted on charges stemming from an investigation into alleged official misconduct and fraudulent vehicle title filings, according to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.
A Union County grand jury returned a five-count indictment Aug. 6 against Christopher R. Wolf, 46, of Budd Lake, the prosecutor’s office announced Friday.
The indictment followed an investigation by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Special Prosecution Unit in coordination with local police departments.
Union County Assistant Prosecutor Aran McNerney and Detective Edward Henderson led the investigation, according to the prosecutor’s office.
“The integrity of our entire criminal justice system relies on the public’s confidence that those sworn to enforce our laws abide by them with complete honesty,” said Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel. “When that trust is breached, our office has an unwavering obligation to uphold the rule of law.”
The prosecutor’s office did not provide additional details in the information released Friday about the specific counts in the five-count indictment or the circumstances surrounding the alleged fraudulent title filings.
