Vessel crashes into rocks on Delaware River in Hunterdon County, operator seriously injured, state police say

DELAWARE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A vessel operator suffered serious injuries Friday night after a crash on the Delaware River near Bulls Island, according to New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded at approximately 10:09 p.m. June 12 to the area of Bulls Island in Delaware Township for a reported vessel accident.

Based on a preliminary investigation, a single-operator vessel struck semi-submerged rocks in the water, causing the operator to be ejected, state police said.

The operator sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

State police did not release the identity of the injured person.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was immediately available.
