Warren County Environmental Advisory Committee to host public workshop on regional climate action plan March 19

WARREN COUNTY, NJ – The Lehigh Valley Planning Commission (LVPC) is preparing a regional climate action plan for the metropolitan statistical area (MSA) that includes Carbon, Lehigh, and Northampton Counties in Pennsylvania and Warren County in New Jersey.

The plan aims to identify goals and measures to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and other harmful air pollutants.

The public is invited to attend a workshop hosted by the Warren County Environmental Advisory Committee, where LVPC will introduce the regional climate action plan process, review targets and goals, and gather input on projects and actions to reduce GHG emissions from each of the region’s seven major emission sectors: Industrial, Transportation, Commercial, Residential, Agricultural, Water and Wastewater, and Solid Waste.

In the spring of 2024, LVPC completed a Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) focusing on transportation decarbonization. They also completed an updated GHG inventory to estimate emissions levels across the entire MSA. Both the PCAP and the GHG Inventory are available on the LVPC website.

“We are excited to receive input on ideas and strategies that can be implemented at a regional level to help reduce our greenhouse gas emissions,” officials said.
