
Warren County man allegedly manufactured firearm using 3D printer
PHILLIPSBURG, NJ (Warren County) – A Warren County man was arrested Monday after allegedly manufacturing a firearm utilizing a 3D printer in Phillipsburg, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
During the week of Aug. 19, law enforcement received information that Michael Weaver, 40, of Phillipsburg had manufactured a firearm using a 3D printer, officials said.
Then on Aug. 26, the Phillipsburg Police Department, Warren County Prosecutor’s Office and the Warren County Tactical Response Team executed a Search Warrant at Weaver’s residence, authorities said.
During the investigation, law enforcement recovered a manufactured 9mm handgun, two 3D printers, thousands of rounds of multi-caliber ammunition and equipment to manufacture such ammunition, the prosecutor’s office said.
Weaver was charged with second-degree manufacturing or facilitating the manufacture of a firearm using three-dimensional printer, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, without first obtaining a permit, and second-degree certain person not to have weapons or ammunition.
Weaver is currently being held in the Warren County Correctional Center.
The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office and the Warren County Tactical Response Team assisted the Phillipsburg Police Department with the investigation.
