Warren County Sheriff’s Office warns public of phone scam

WARREN COUNTY, NJ – The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents to a recent phone scam involving a male caller who falsely identifies himself as Sergeant Marshall from the Sheriff’s Office.

The caller accuses individuals of being in contempt of court for failing to appear, referencing a subpoena and a supposed signature as evidence of noncompliance. The caller then claims to have an arrest warrant and threatens arrest, according to Warren County Sheriff James J. McDonald, Sr.

The Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that no such individual named Sergeant Marshall is employed by the department and that these calls are a scam intended to solicit personal information.

Residents receiving such calls are advised to terminate the conversation immediately and contact the Warren County Sheriff’s Office directly at 908-475-6309 to report the incident.
