Warren County teacher’s aide charged with assault of 5-year-old

BELVIDERE, NJ (Warren County) – A teacher’s aide was arrested and charged Friday after it was alleged that he physically assaulted a 5-year-old in Belvidere, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s office.

On Friday, February 7, police received a report of a physical assault involving a 5-year-old victim. During the investigation, the suspect was identified as Philip J. Carlton, 60, of Stewartsville, a public school teacher’s aide, authorities said.

Carlton was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. The second degree crime carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
