Water restrictions now in effect in Mount Olive Township

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County)Mount Olive Township has announced that water restrictions and conservations are now in effect for consumers of the township-owned water system.

“It is imperative that each water consumer take measures to conserve water and help ensure adequate water supplies for health and safety of our community,” officials said.

Restrictions for all township water systems are as follows:

  1. Lawn watering: Odd or even address numbers will determine what days you may water your lawn. If your address ends in an odd number, you may water on odd numbered days. If your address ends in an even number, you may water on even numbered days. Limited hours are also in effect on your assigned day. You may water from 5:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. No one can water from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on any day.
  2. Washing of structures/sidewalks/ driveways is prohibited.
  3. Flowerbeds, vegetable gardens, shrubs and trees may be watered using a hose with a handheld shut-off nozzle or other low-volume watering method. But not between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  4. Vehicles may be washed, but only with a bucket or hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle.
  5. Planting of ornamental vegetation, grass and sod by residents or landscapers is discouraged since watering restrictions are in effect. If circumstances warrant such activities (ex. new construction), then new sod or seed may be watered daily for the first 45 days only. You must notify the Water Department on the date of seed planting or sod laying.
